Setting up an event committee

Establish a team

Identify specific responsibilities for all members of the team to include:

  • health and safety coordination: someone with suitable experience to oversee all health and safety at the event including appointing any contractors for specialist work such as electrics
  • fire safety person: responsible for all aspects of safety
  • marshal supervision: responsibility for briefing, coordinating and supervising the work of event marshals
  • communications: promoting your event within the local media, liaising with local residents, producing promotional material such as posters, leaflets and so on
