Coronavirus (COVID-19): change to service

On advice from the government regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), some services have changed. Find our latest information and advice about beaches in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

See further information about changes to other services.

Beach accessible wheelchairs

We have 2 beach accessible wheelchairs available that can be used in the sea.

We do not operate a booking service for the wheelchairs. These are on a first come, first served basis. They are available from Sandbanks and Branksome Chine beach offices 9:30am to 4:30pm, from May to September. You will have to pay a refundable £50 cash deposit.

Sandbanks beach has Mobi-Mats to help wheelchair users move more easily from the promenade onto the sand and closer to the sea. These are available between May and September.

Access to beaches

Accessible toilets

There are disabled toilets at these beaches:

The toilets are accessible RADAR toilets which need a key to access. If you don't have one, apply for a RADAR key.

Accessible electric beach BBQs

Two wheelchair accessible beach BBQ hot plates have been installed at Branksome Chine. They are free to use on a first come, fire served basis between 10am to 10pm. The bench design is 860mm high for ease of access to the cooktop by seated adults.
