The Motability Scheme provides you with access to transport if you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowanceor War Pensioners Mobility Supplement.
Your Disability Living Allowance mobility component award must be indefinite or have at least 12 months still to run.
If you receive the enhanced rate of Personal Independence Payments(PIP) mobility payments, the Motability Scheme still applies.
Your award may be used to buy or lease a car or a powered wheelchair or scooter. In the case of a more expensive vehicle, extra money may have to be put in by you to fund the purchase or lease.
Disabled children and adult non-drivers may use the scheme as car passengers, with up to 2 nominated drivers.
