The independent admission and exclusion appeals service provides a professional, efficient and comprehensive independent school admission and exclusion appeal service in compliance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and the School Admissions Appeal Code 2012.
Legal and Democratic Services (LDS) will:
- arrange for independent panel hearings to take place for each appeal received within the required timescale
- liaise with parents, schools and panel members on the date, time and venue for each hearing
- administer and distribute the necessary documentation to all concerned parties within the required timescale following receipt of the appropriate appeal form
- clerk the panel appeal hearings
- provide advice to all concerned parties in writing of the decision of the Panel and advise on the process of appeal against such decision
- provide advice to parents, schools and panel members on procedure and Admissions Law
In provision of the service, LDS will:
- ensure confidentiality in its relationships and dealings with the school and parents/guardians of all students to which the service is provided for
- ensure compliance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act
- ensure that the qualifications and expertise of staff providing support to the school is commensurate with the work undertaken
- ensure appropriate management of the service level agreement
- provide a personal advice service between 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
- respond to all non-urgent enquiries within five working days and all urgent enquiries within one working day
