Educational visits

We will provide a service for the assessment and endorsement of arrangements for residential visits, visits abroad and outdoor and adventurous activities (led by school staff not external providers).

Services offered:

  • email advice and support to ensure the planning and organising of learning outside the classroom activities (including policies and procedures, legal requirements, the purpose of the visit, risk benefit analysis, risk assessment, evaluation and monitoring) meet national guidance and standards
  • guidance which provides schools with a framework for planning off site visits, together with template forms and guidance on how to complete them. It also provides details of who to contact for help and support, as well as other useful documents and resource information. This removes the onus from schools to write their own guidance
  • assessment and endorsement of arrangements for educational visits, visits abroad and outdoor and adventurous activities (led by school staff not external providers). This is done by submitting visit details for checking and assessment by the LA Outdoor education adviser. Visits will be assessed to ensure planning and risk assessments are suitable and sufficient. On-going support and advice are provided if necessary

For more information contact Tricia Zimmerman, LA outdoor education adviser t.zimmerman@poole.gov.uk, phone 01202 633760.
