Trinidad Village has celebrated reaching the highest point in the construction of 54 extra care apartments with a topping out ceremony.
The milestone in the building work was celebrated by Borough of Poole andPoole Housing Partnership staff, along with councillors and site staff from Drew Smith Group.
When finished, the extra care scheme will offer enhanced support and facilities to help older people and adults with disabilities live independently in their own homes. Residents will benefit from a designated team of care workers, available 24 hours a day.
Currently under construction on Rossmore Road in Parkstone, Trinidad Village is being developed by Borough of Poole, Poole Housing Partnership and the Homes & Communities Agency. The building will welcome its first residents at the end of 2016.
Cllr Karen Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Services, Borough of Poole, said: “This new facility offers much-needed extra care housing in Poole and helps us support residents with a range of care needs to live independently in their own homes. It's great to see the development progressing so well and I look forward to seeing the finished building.”
Joe Logan, Chief Executive, Poole Housing Partnership, said: “We’re delighted to contribute to meeting the need for high-quality housing with support in Poole. Trinidad Village will enable residents and other local people to access some exciting, state-of-the-art facilities, but more importantly, allow those with care needs to remain in their community.”
The development will include a central courtyard for residents to enjoy, as well as a restaurant and hairdressers that both residents and the local community will be able to make use of.
