Poole’s newest extra care development, Trinidad Village, has celebrated welcoming its first residents with a festive community open day.
Borough of Poole and Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) staff welcomed members of the Rossmore community and residents of Trinidad Village to take a tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at the development, as well as the beautifully landscaped central courtyard, café and hairdressers that both residents and the local community can now make use of.
The Mayor of Poole Councillor Xena Dion was on hand to cut a specially commissioned cake to mark the occasion, whilst festive entertainment was provided by PHP’s workplace choir.
Councillor Dion commented: “I was enormously impressed with the facilities at Trinidad Village, and it was wonderful to see the community coming together to celebrate the festive season. The development really is stunning, and I hope that the new residents are looking forward to making it their home. Talking to many of the people at this event it's clear that this facility is truly bringing people together - new residents with those from the adjacent properties and I believe this will be a really successful new 'village'.”
Councillor Karen Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Housing and Community Services, Borough of Poole, said: “This new facility allows us to bring together the high level care services offered in residential care with the accommodation and independence of living in your own home. It's wonderful to see the project come to fruition and to welcome our first residents.”
Su Spence, Chief Executive of Poole Housing Partnership, said: “We have been delighted to work with the Borough of Poole to design and develop this facility which will meet the need for high-quality housing with support in Poole. Today’s event has shown the local community the very high standards we have worked to on this development. I hope that both the residents and people living nearby continue to enjoy the fantastic facilities.”
