Resurfacing of main road in Poole

Essential resurfacing works are being carried out to a busy main road in Poole during half term week.

Works to resurface a section of Waterloo Road, between Sopers Lane signal junction and Hatchpond Road signal junction, will take place on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 October.

This will complete the major signal refurbishment scheme which was carried out at Waterloo Road earlier in the year costing approximately £665,000. The resurfacing works could not be completed with the main works, as Southern Gas Network needed to carry out emergency works to repair a gas leak.

To minimise disruption to local residents and road users, the works will be undertaken outside of peak hours, between 9.30am and 4pm. Although Waterloo Road will remain open to road users, there will be temporary lane closures during the two days, so some delays are anticipated.

Local residents directly affected by the works have been advised to exit via Plantation Road and Canford Heath Road.

John Rice, Engineering Manager, Borough of Poole, said: “As Waterloo Road is such a busy road we have planned for the works to take place during half term and to coincide with the Gravel Hill works, as there is generally 15% less traffic on the roads during this period.

“We recognise that the works will cause some unavoidable disruption to road users and would ask motorists to allow extra time for their journeys or seek an alternative route. We would like to thank everyone for their patience while these final improvements are carried out."
