Poole Libraries is pleased to announce the 1000th member of their pre-school library club, The Bookstart Bear Club.
Tristan Aubery, aged 2 years, didn’t know he was such a special member until Rossmore library contacted his family to tell them the good news. Tristan received a bumper pack of books to add to his collection and a Bookstart Bear to cuddle.
Tristan’s Mum Beth Aubery, said: “We were very excited to hear that Tristan was the 1000th member of Poole Libraries’ Bookstart Bear Club. Tristan loves coming to the library and we consider ourselves very lucky to have such a fantastic array of libraries on our doorstep in Poole.”
The club, produced by Booktrust, runs in all ten Poole libraries and is free to join for all pre-school children. As children visit the library, take part in Rhymetimes and share library books, they receive Bookstart Bear paw prints in their passports. The paw prints go towards a collection of certificates.
Councillor Mohan Iyengar, Portfolio Holder for Libraries and Culture, Borough of Poole, said: “The Bookstart Bear Club is a fun and engaging way for young children to explore the wonderful world of books. Having 1000 members in Poole proves how popular and valuable that experience is.”
Poole libraries invite you to come along to a Bookstart Rhymetime and join in the fun as they look forward to National Bookstart Week in June. There is a brilliant ‘Under-the-sea’ theme where you can add your own special sea-related ‘find’ to the nature tables.
