Cabinet Members show support for beach scheme

Borough of Poole's Cabinet has recommended that councillors support additional investment in developments along Poole's seafront.

At their meeting on 1 November, Cabinet recommended that Council support the investment of a further £1.79m to improve seafront infrastructure.

This investment is in addition to the £3.62m Council committed to in July 2015 to develop new beach huts and will be funded through a mix of prudential borrowing and use of the Council's Capital Contingency.

Cllr John Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment and Beaches, Borough of Poole, said: "Our Blue Flag beaches are a fantastic asset and it is vital that we invest to ensure they remain a great place for residents and visitors to Poole.

"As well as providing a number of new and different types of beach huts, the current proposal would see this project provide a new cafe, refurbished toilets as well as a new DDA compliant toilet and improved public realm. All of these proposals were received positively by residents during the public engagement carried out in March."

The recommendations will go to councillors to consider on 15 November. Read the report that went to Cabinet.
