For the second year running, Borough of Poole is organising a free engineering and manufacturing supply chain event for businesses across Dorset.
The event, organised in partnership with Dorset Engineering and Manufacturing Cluster and supported by Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry, brings supply chain managers from world-class engineering and manufacturing companies together with local businesses. It’s a chance for delegates to talk about their products and services while making valuable contacts and learning about new developments in sourcing.
Past attendees have enjoyed a greater insight into local opportunities and the advantages of a supply chain that is logistically simpler and more sustainable. It’s also a boost to their profile as a broader contributor to the regional economy.
Matthew Rigby, from Siemens Traffic Control in Poole, said: “The Siemens supply chain team had a stand last year and not only found the event informative, but also benefitted greatly from the networking opportunity which was provided. This allowed us to not only understand the capabilities of local suppliers, but has also led to the development of relationships across a number of commodities. We will be exhibiting this year and are once again looking forward to learning more about what Dorset based suppliers have to offer.”
Adrian Trevett, Economic Development Manager, Borough of Poole, said: “Many engineering and manufacturing businesses have said they would like a better understanding of the local supply chain, as often they use a particular supplier because they are not aware of a suitable company nearby. As last year’s event was so successful, both from the suppliers' and buyers' perspective, we are now aiming to hold this event annually.”
This supply chain event will be held on Thursday 6 April from 9am to 12 noon at the Thistle Hotel in Poole. This year buyers from John Zink Hamworthy Combustion, Siemens Traffic Control, Sunseeker International, Ishida Europe, Air Bearings, ABS Engineering and Wartsila amongst others are looking for suppliers of:
• Engineering & manufacturing ( including machining, fabrication, finishing, sheet metal)
• Electrical panel builders and electrical testing
• Logistics solutions
• Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)
• Recruitment solutions
• Quality and inspection services
• Valving manufacturers and distributors
Other exhibitors include Bournemouth University, Dorset Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dorset Growth Hub.
Councillor Mohan Iyengar, Cabinet Member for the Economy, Borough of Poole, said: “Poole has a diverse engineering and manufacturing sector and we are committed to ensuring that it continues to thrive. This event plays a key role in bringing buyers from world class businesses together with local companies to maximise business opportunities in Dorset.”
