Alternate weekly collections start on Monday

Poole’s alternate weekly bin collections will start from Monday 3 October.

All residents have received their new collection calendars, along with a letter informing them of the changes that are being made. A ‘Blue Book’ provides helpful guidance on how to reduce household waste.

This change will save the Council approximately £500,000 a year. The Council must make savings of £12 million over the next three years and needs to change the way it works in order to protect vital local services and deliver its priorities in the years ahead.

Cllr John Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Environment, Borough of Poole, said: “I would like to thank all concerned in the implementation of the new alternate weekly collection service for delivering comprehensive information to the households of Poole, as well as thanking all residents in advance for their patience and cooperation while this new service gets underway.

“The new alternate weekly collection service will help all of us to recycle more, waste less, and safeguard waste collection for the future.”

Residents are encouraged to check their supplied calendar for their new dates, and have all bins out before 6am to ensure that they are collected.

The date and time of bin collections may have also changed for some households so residents are encouraged to check their new calendar and put out their bin for collection by 6am.
