Help to find Poole’s Great Neighbourhoods

Residents from across Poole are being invited to nominate examples of neighbourly activities in their community.

The Poole Conversation group want to hear about groups of residents/streets, community groups/activities and businesses that have gone the extra mile to encourage a sense of community spirit in Poole’s neighbourhoods.

This campaign is in response to the issue raised at last year’s Poole Conversation event, which recognised that social isolation and loneliness is a growing challenge in the town. The Poole Conversation team want to discover more about what makes different communities in the town a great place to live, so that we can showcase those ideas and inspire others to spread these ideas across the town. Poole Conversation is a partnership that includes the Borough of Poole, Bournemouth University, Churches Together Poole, Faithworks Wessex, Livability Holton Lee and Prama.

Ian Jones, Head of Regional Community Partnerships at Bournemouth University said: “Many of us know that Poole is a connected place where people feel valued – this Great Neighbourhoods campaign is about spotting those brilliant groups who often go unnoticed but who make people feel special.  For once, we are not looking at individuals, but at places and teams who bring people together.”

Nominations can be completed online or via a printed form, available at the Civic Centre, in libraries, the Spire on Poole High street and other locations. Tell us about a street, community group, activity or business that makes your neighbourhood special. Nominations must be received by 30 November, so that we can shortlist the examples to be showcased at “Poole Conversation 2” event at Bournemouth University on January 10th.
