Exploratory ground investigation work will be carried out on part of an existing open space at Turlin Moor recreation ground.
Borough of Poole’s consultants, WSP and Geotechnics, will be on site today (28 January 2019) until Friday 1 February 2019 to take soil samples and test the condition of the ground.
The investigations will involve hand digging 17 trial holes before a drill rig is used to deepen the holes to enable soil samples to be taken. In addition 8 trial pits will be made outside the training pitches and a further 14 holes using poles will be taken. Work on each hole will be completed before the contractor moves onto the next one.
Some exploratory work will be carried out near to the homes in Keysworth Road. The works will be closely managed to ensure minimal impact on local residents.
By the end of the week the site will be fully reinstated to ensure residents can use the recreation ground at the weekend.
Borough of Poole is continuing to explore the feasibility of providing a mixed housing scheme and improved community facilities on this site, which is included in the recently adopted Poole Local Plan. The further exploratory work being undertaken will help determine whether the scheme can be delivered. If this scheme progresses, it is unlikely that any building work associated with the possible new development will take place in the short term.
