Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge - mischief makers - banner

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, and read six books of your choice to complete the challenge. There are exclusive rewards along the way, and it's FREE to take part!

Every year there is a special theme for the challenge. This year the challenge is called Mischief Makers and it is inspired by the much loved comic book 'The Beano', which celebrates it's 80th anniversary this year. The Summer Reading Challenge is produced by the Reading Agency and delivered by libraries.

The Beano stars characters like Dennis, Gnasher and their friends and they all invite you to set off on a hunt for Beanotown's famous buried treasure, a treasure chest full of epic pranks!

Young readers under the age of 4 can also read 6 books and complete the mini challenge. They'll get a sticker for every book they read. Teenagers and young people can join in by volunteering.

The challenge officially begins on Saturday 14 July, and runs until Saturday 8 September. Ask for more details in your local library.
