Poole Quays Forum - renewal application

The Poole Quays Forum neighbourhood plan was adopted by the Borough of Poole on 21 February 2017 and forms part of Poole’s Local Plan, guiding development in the neighbourhood area alongside other development plan policies.

On 9 April 2018 Poole Quays Forum (PQF) applied to the Borough of Poole to renew its status as the designated neighbourhood forum for the PQF Neighbourhood Area in accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 and Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

The forum was first designated in July 2013 however neighbourhood forum designations expire after five years and this application seeks to renew it for a further five years.

Neighbourhood forums must be able to demonstrate that they have a written constitution to describe the basic framework of the organisation including its purpose, membership rules and election of officers. The neighbourhood planning legislation states that Forums must have at least 21 members who are individuals, either living, working within the area of the neighbourhood forum, or are elected members of the authority concerned.

Please note that if the Neighbourhood Forum’s status is approved by the council, no other organisation may be designated as a Neighbourhood Forum for the purposes of the Localism Act 2011 and the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012 for that neighbourhood area until the designation expires or is withdrawn. This will only affect the ability to exercise neighbourhood planning powers and will not affect the existence or creation of any other neighbourhood community voluntary or charitable bodies in the area.

We asked for views and comments on the renewal application from residents and other interested parties between 5pm on 14 May 2018 and 5pm on 25 June 2018.

The consultation documents were made available daily during the consultation period between 9am and 5pm at:

Next steps

The Place Overview and Scrutiny Committee will consider all responses received to the consultation on the 24 July 2018.

After this, the portfolio holder will make the final decision on the renewal of the status.
