5 June to 6 July 2007
A special election edition of Poole News helped to raise awareness of local elections to 98%. In May 2007 awareness of the local elections was high amongst panel members, with Poole News, TV/Radio and the efforts of the political parties providing key sources of information.
On the 3 May, 77% of panel members actually placed their vote. The majority of whom found voting to be an easy experience, with accessible polling stations and helpful staff. Voting in person remained the preferred method, with only a quarter opting to vote by post. From the responses received, it appears that there is a continuing lack of trust in the postal voting system, exacerbated by media reports of negative experiences elsewhere in the UK.
