We asked the Poole Opinion Panel about recreational activities in Poole Harbour and wider Dorset.
Most panel members (97%) had visited Poole Harbour in the last five years, while 3% said they had not visited. Walking for pleasure was the most popular activity that our panel members visited Poole Harbour for, with 55% doing it at least once a month. One quarter visit the harbour for wildlife watching and 19% for cycling for pleasure.
Over three fifth’s of members (62%) had visited other coastal areas of Dorset in the past 12 months. Walking for pleasure was the most popular activity, with 50% doing this at least once a month.
54% of members said "the views across the water and coastline" was their most important characteristic of coastal areas in Dorset. 45% felt that the "quality of the water" was most important (45%), and 35% felt "wildlife, including animals and habitats" was the most important characteristic.
