Parks and open spaces results

The parks that panel members visited most often in Poole were Poole Park (92% used this park), Harbourside Park (Baiter & Whitecliff - 80% used) and Upton Country Park (70% used). 64% used parks & open spaces for relaxing, 63% for walking or for walking their dog and 47% used parks for family outings.

We asked the panel to rate, on a scale of 1 to 10, the importance of, and satisfaction with, a list of factors relating to parks and open spaces in Poole - these can be seen in the table below.

The aspect panel members thought most important was that Parks & Open Spaces are safe and secure. It was also important that parks were clean, pleasant and are accessible for all.

Panel members also told us that they thought it was important to have:

  • a park warden
  • cheap near-by parking
  • clean, accessible toilet facilities
  • dogs kept under control

The aspects the panel was most satisfied with were that parks and open spaces are attractive, accessible for all and easy to get to. They were dissatisfied with dog fouling and uncontrolled dogs, litter and maintenance.

The 3 most important aspects of grounds maintenance were:

  • grass cutting in parks (64%)
  • maintenance of trees (64%)
  • maintenance of highway verges (56%)
