Transportation Services were interested in finding out what residents think of the car parking services in Poole. Overall, 49% of panel members rated the car parks as "very/fairly good" - a decrease of 17% since the 2008 survey. Car parks "are too expensive" was one of the main reasons given for rating the car parks "very/fairly poor".
88% felt that their vehicle is safe and secure in the car parks - an increase from 80% in 2008. 97% indicated that they feel safe using the car parks in the daytime and 72% feel safe at night.
Jason Benjamin, Parking Services Manager, comments "The survey has identified positive outcomes from previous investment in car park security. In 2010/11, we will endeavour to improve further our high security standards by reviewing and utilising new CCTV technology where feasible.
We will also be reviewing all relevant factors to identify whether our car parks provide value for money and are competitively priced. In 2010 the service will benefit from the introduction of solar powered pay and display machines in the car parks which will reduce our energy bills and help the council meet its carbon reduction targets".
