Marion Le Poidevin was elected as Mayor of Poole on 7 June 2019 having been a councillor since 2011.

After reading German with English at Bristol University, Marion trained as a teacher of primary age children but during her working life has also taught languages at secondary level and in Adult Education. She was also involved in Adult Literacy and on moving to this area she trained to teach English as a foreign language.

For most of her life, she has been involved with the Girl Guide movement. In the late 1990s she was Chair of Poole Agenda 21 looking at ways of living and developing sustainability. Interests include cinema, reading and singing as a member of Bournemouth University Choir.

Duties as Mayor include chairing all meetings of the Full Council, overseeing all citizenship ceremonies for people becoming British citizens in Poole and representing residents as their ambassador at the many functions she will attend in her mayoral year.

Inviting the Mayor to an event

The Mayor welcomes invitations to attend events held by the local community within Borough of Poole. These can range from school visits and coffee mornings to formal dinners and ceremonies. The Mayor is also happy to join you celebrating special anniversaries and 100th birthdays.

If you would like to invite the Mayor to your event, please complete a request for a visit from the mayor.

Start

It would be very helpful to have as much information as possible about the event you are planning to hold.

We normally need at least 4 weeks’ notice for all invitations. It’s best to give more notice than this if you can as the Mayor's diary gets booked up weeks in advance.

Due to demand it may not be possible for the Civic Party to attend every event. A member of staff from the Mayor’s Office will contact you if any members of the Civic Party are available to attend your event.
