Residential care for children

We believe that children and young people's needs are best met in a family environment. A family environment offers the best opportunity for children and young people to form and sustain positive long term relationships with adult carers.

However, it is recognised that for a minority of children and young people their assessed care needs may be more suitably met in a residential Children's Home setting.

Poole does not have any in-house residential provision, so when these situations occur, we will commission and access appropriate placement services outside Poole to meet the assessed needs of individual children and young people requiring such specialist care. We will seek to place children as close to Poole as possible.
