You can purchase copies of birth, death, marriage, and civil partnership certificates from Poole Register Office by telephoning us on 01202 633744, by post or in person at Poole Register Office. We are unable to produce certificates on a 'while you wait' basis due to the number of orders we receive on a daily basis.
If you need a certificate for a registration that occurred outside of the Borough of Poole, or if your certificate request is urgent, please call the General Register Office on 0300 123 1837 to order your certificate.
Please note that in cases where historical entries are requested, it can take up to 2 working days to locate the entry and process the orders.
Depending on the time of the order, certificates can usually be collected the same day or posted out first-class post.
Certificate fees
The fee for a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership certificate is £10 per copy.
Fees from 16 February 2019
From 16 February 2019 there will be an increase in certificate fees:
- express service - £35
- all other certificates - £11
This increase is a statutory fee from central government and the registrar general.
You can pay by cash, debit or credit card.
Adoption certificates
Records of adoption in England and Wales since 1 January 1927 are kept by the Registrar General. A standard certificate is a full copy of the entry in the Adopted Children Register which, instead of details of parentage and birth registration, gives the date of birth (if it is known) and particulars of the adoption and adoptive parents. A short certificate shows only the name, and has no reference to adoption. Applications for Adoption Certificates should be made in writing to:
