The van permit scheme is for Borough of Poole and Bournemouth Borough Council residents.
The free scheme allows van or pick up users to visit Nuffield Household Waste and Recycling Centre or Millhams Community Recycling Centre to dispose of their household waste 6 times per year, providing there is no other vehicle in the household (whether the vehicle is owned, or has been provided by an employer for domestic as well as business use).
Vans or pick ups must be less than 3.5 tonnes.
Apply or renew
As a permit holder, you will receive a permit which allows 6 visits to the site in a 12 month period.
There is no expiry date, just an earliest renewal date. You will not need to reapply until you have used your 6 visit entitlement.

To apply for a van permit, you will need:
- to login or create an online account with us
- your vehicle registration number
- the make and model of your vehicle
If you are disabled and your only vehicle is a van or a pick up which has been modified for your needs, you can continue to dispose of your household waste as usual without a permit as long as your vehicle is under 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight.
If you have hired a van which is less than 3.5 tonnes from a hire company for a period of 3 days or less, you can access the site to dispose of your household waste providing you have a copy of the hire agreement and proof of Poole or Bournemouth residency.
We will email you to let you know if your application is successful, you can collect your permit 4 working days after submitting your application.
