Transport Contributions Scheme 2 - Draft 2011

9 Nov 11- 21 Dec 11

A draft Transport Contributions Scheme Supplementary Planning Document is available for public comment until 21 December 2011. It is proposed that this revision following public consultation and adoption by the Council will replace the existing scheme which has been in operation since 7 April 2009. There is no change to the geographical application of the Scheme which is South East Dorset wide, excluding Purbeck.

The purpose of the revision is to update the Scheme in light of (i) the approval of Local Transport Plan 3 for Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset; and (ii) having regard to the current economic situation. In addition the Scheme will become part of each Council's Local Development Framework as a Supplementary Planning Document giving it enhanced weight in the decision making process. The scheme is based on the transport contribution necessary as a result of development which is expected to occur up to 2026 and is evidenced by the South East Dorset Multi-Modal Transport Study published earlier this year. This comprehensive evidence base demonstrates that the additional transport schemes are directly related to the transport contribution required by the development.

The consultation document proposes a contribution for 2011/12 of £350 per additional standard daily trip, the current applicable rate is £691.21 per additional vehicle trip.

Consultation commenced on 9th November 2011 for a period of 6 weeks, closing on Wednesday 21st December 2011. It was co-ordinated by Dorset County Council and comments could be submitted by post, email or online through the Council's consultation portal.
