Poole Community Transport Service
The Borough of Poole and Poole Council for Voluntary Service are working in partnership to provide Poole Community Transport Service (PCTS).
What does Membership to PCTS Offer?
- Dial-a-Bus which is a door-to-door minibus taking passengers from their homes into Poole town centre. This service operates Monday to Saturday.

- Voluntary Drivers who can assist with transport to essential appointments such as the doctors, dentist as well as lunch clubs etc.

Who Can Use PCTS?
You can apply to become a member of PCTS if:
- You are a resident of the Borough of Poole.
- You are unable to use public transport.
- You need help getting into Poole for shopping etc., and/or you need help getting to essential appointments.
How Do I Apply To Become a Member?
If you feel you are eligible to use PCTS please contact the Community Transport Officer or telephone (01202) 262220.
If you are eligible you will be visited and your registration form completed. Annual Membership to PCTS is £2.00.
HOW IT WORKS
Dial-a-Bus
Once the Community Transport Officer has visited you and your registration is complete you can telephone the booking office to reserve a seat on the minibus. Three days notice is required. Fares range from £1.20 to £2.40 return depending upon where you live. Passengers can take their mobility equipment on Dial-a-Bus or travel whilst seated in their wheelchair if necessary (subject to assessment of the wheelchair).
Voluntary Drivers
Our Voluntary Drivers use their own vehicles to take you from your home to your appointment and back again. Drivers are reimbursed a mileage rate for using their own vehicle but they are not paid for their time. All drivers have been CRB checked.
Currently the charges for Voluntary Driver trips are:
- £3.00 for a single journey, or £6.00 for a return journey, of up to 5 miles each way from where you live.
Trips of over 5 miles each way can be accommodated. Please contact the Community Transport Officer for further information.
Wheelchair Accessible Car

A wheelchair accessible car has been added to the fleet and is available for bookings. You can book the vehicle plus Voluntary Driver or just book out the vehicle and drive it yourself (subject to completion of a short training course). This service complements PCTS's already very successful Dial-a-Bus and Voluntary Driver Service.
PCTS members who need to travel whilst seated in their wheelchair can book this vehicle to make essential trips to the doctors, dentist appointments, luncheon clubs, church groups etc. A charge is made for this service. Please contact the Community Transport Officer or call (01202) 262220 for more information.
Please Note: We are not able to transport Mobility Scooters on any of the PCTS services.
Voluntary Driving - Can You Help?
We would love to hear from anyone who enjoys driving and meeting people and who may be able to volunteer even just an hour or so of their time a week.
Drivers using their own car receive a generous mileage allowance, currently 45.8p per mile covered. Those who enjoy driving but do not have a car may undertake a short training course and take passengers on journeys in and around the Borough of Poole using our wheelchair accessible vehicle.
Voluntary Drivers make an important contribution to people living within the Borough of Poole enabling them to live a full and active life within their own community. It is the volunteers' dedication that keeps this much-appreciated service running.
If you think you can help by sparing some of your time and becoming a Voluntary Driver please contact the Community Transport Officer on (01202) 262220 for more information.
