Poole - Three Towns Travel

Following a bid to the Department for Transport Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch Councils were jointly awarded £12.1 million to make small travel improvements along the main routes of the three towns.

What are the aims?

The aims, for all the improvement projects within the scheme, are to keep traffic flowing and encourage people to use more environmentally friendly ways to travel such as walking, cycling or using the bus or train.

The knock-on effects will help to reduce congestion, improve air quality, support the local economy and make public spaces more attractive.

Business Travel Grant

The purpose of the Business Travel Grant scheme is to support organisations to deliver projects that will enable and encourage their employees to travel more sustainably, whether this is by walking, cycling, public transport or car sharing.
This is predominantly a capital only grant (infrastructure improvements such as cycle storage, lockers or showers). However if there are projects which meet the criteria of promoting sustainable travel, then non capital (revenue) applications will be considered (e.g. sustainable travel events, car sharing website, travel information packs for staff).
The grants are available from £200 up to a maximum of £5000 with funding currently in place until March 2015.  For any additional information or further queries regarding the travel grant please email us at threetownstravel@bournemouth.gov.uk.
