Poole Local Plan

Introduction

We are preparing a new local plan to replace our core strategy and other local plan documents. The Poole Local Plan, once completed, will set a new plan for Poole to meet needs and guide development to 2033.

We started work on the local plan in 2013 and have held a number of previous consultations, looking at the issues and options around how the towns development needs could be met by a new local plan for Poole.

Next steps

The consultation on the draft plan is now complete. We have reviewed the responses and, on the 24 November, submitted the local plan to the planning inspectorate for examination.

The planning inspectorate will appoint an inspector to oversee the examination. Find out more about the Poole Local Plan examination.

We expect the examination to be resolved by Spring/Summer 2018, allowing us to adopt the local plan. Upon adoption, the plan will replace all of the current statutory local planning documents.

These plans are supported by our evidence base.

Previous consultations

The council has undertaken a number of consultations which are listed below with the most recent first.

Consultation on the Draft Plan

Following the further issues and options consultation in 2016, we have considered the feedback and prepared a draft plan known as the pre-submission draft.
