The Dorset Heathland Planning Framework was adopted by the Borough of Poole at its Full Council meeting of 26 June 2012. The SPD came into effect on the 20th September 2012. The Chairman’s Report to Council and other supporting information can be found here.
Subsequently the Council at its meeting on 22 April 2014 (minutes can be found here), extended the timeframe of the document until 31 December 2014. A revised SPD is currently being prepared by the local authorities in South East Dorset which should be available for public consultation in the autumn.
The Dorset Heathland Planning Framework Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), covering the period April 2012 to April 2014, will replace the current Dorset Heathland Interim Planning Framework (IPF). In practice there will be no change to the way that the new SPD works compared to the previous IPF. However, the advantage and purpose of converting the IPF to a SPD is that it will bring it within the current planning system and it will become part of each of the participating local authorities Local Development Frameworks.
The SPD will function in the same way as the IPF and on this basis the SPD sets out a revised programme of mitigation required to enable the predicted levels of residential development over the two year period to come forward.
The timetable for Dorset Heathlands Planning Framework Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) is set out below:-
A paper version of the document is available to view at Planning and Regeneration Services at the Civic Centre. The Planning reception is open Monday to Friday 08:30 to 16:00.
