Public consultation on the Issues and Options stage opened on 18th November and closes on 10th February 2012.
The Borough of Poole is one of nine Local Authorities working on a Dorset wide Gypsy, Traveller & Travelling Showpeople Joint Development Plan Document (DPD). The aim of the DPD is to allocate appropriate permanent and transit sites for Gypsies and Travellers and Travelling Showpeople within Dorset for the next 15 years. For Poole the identified need is for 8 transit pitches which would require approximately 0.5-1hectare of land.
A site options report (downloadable from the right hand side of this page) has been prepared for each local authority area which forms part of the consultation and includes a list of sites that have been considered (but not favoured by the Council) at this stage. Also available to download is a poster with the dates and venues of exhibitions across Dorset. In Poole there are two exhibitions:
5th December 10.00 – 14.00 at Poole Central Library
6th December 14.30 – 19.00 Church of the Good Shepherd, Herbert Avenue
Other documents that can be downloaded from the right hand side of this page include:
- A summary leaflet and response form for Poole with maps identifying the sites that have been considered but not favoured by the Council.
- A more detailed response form that can be used should you wish to respond to the wider issue of providing for the needs of Gypsy and Travellers.
- A briefing note prepared by the Council to explain the background to the provision of sites.
Whilst it is helpful to all the Dorset Councils if comments could be made on either of the two response forms, depending on the issues you wish to respond to, representations will be accepted by email or post provided you supply contact details and state whether you would like to be informed of further stages in the development of the joint plan. Comments can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to Planning and Regeneration, Borough of Poole, Civic Centre, Poole BH15 2RU.
Once responses ha ve been considered in the Spring 2012, work will begin on the next stage of the document
