 Making Comments on Planning Applications

Due to a security feature there is an automatic time out when using the screen of 30 minutes. After this time it is unlikely that your comment will be able to be sent . In order to avoid this time users are advised to type their comments in plain text using for example Microsoft word and then copy and paste the content into the comments box.

Please note when making comments using the Planning Application Viewer, there is only the ability to copy and paste from other software such as Microsoft Word as plain text instead of formatted text, for example bold, underlines, italics will not appear except as normal text.

If you require your comment to appear with the formatted text, then you are advised to email your comment to planning@poole.gov.uk where the email will be treated in the same way as a comment via the Planning application viewer.

Change to making comments on Planning Applications

Following a review of the Planning Applications viewer search facility,  there will no longer be a mandatory  requirement for users to log in by supplying  a user name and password in order to allow them to make a Public Comment.

Users sending in comments without logging in,  will  not have the capability of using  the advanced features of the viewer search facility.

Users are reminded that logging on to the search facility will give them the ability to track applications, save searches  and be notified of status changes to the application. In addition the users personal details are remembered and do not have to be entered every time that a comment is made.

If you have any questions about using the Planning Applications viewer search facility please email planning@poole.gov.uk

Using the Planning Application viewer

Planning has a Planning Applications viewer. It is user friendly with many features.

You can:

  • Simple Search - by using the application number or part of the address or postcode to search.
  • Advanced Search - allows you to use multiple search categories selected via drop down boxes for example by: Ward, Parish, dates valid or date decision issued.
  • Weekly Lists - Search by week by week of all applications; validated or decided.
  • Property Searches - allows you to find out the property history going back to 1998.
  • Map Search - Search by using the map and zooming in on property.

All these searches can be saved, with the added bonus that you can set them up to alert you by email when a new application in your search criteria is validated.

Tracking - Once you have found the application you are interested in, you can set  the 'tracking' feature, which will automatically email you when the application has had additional representations or consultee comments added or, notification of going to committee or the decision has been issued.

Please note that Users will only be able to obtain a full property history for an address going back to 1998 . This is due to the information not being captured previously. Users will however be able to use the simple or advanced search facility to gain details of Planning Applications prior to 1998

When viewing some historic applications (prior to 1997) you may see a 0 documents available in the documents tab of the Planning Application Viewer. This is because the paper file or documents were unfortunately missing when all the documents were scanned however any available data has been retained and displayed.
