Redevelopment of former Post Office warehouse approved

Plans to convert a rear single storey extension previously used for storage into 2 new apartments have been approved by councillors.

Members of Borough of Poole's Planning Committee voted to grant the application submitted by Corfe Castle Charity, subject to conditions and a S106 Agreement, at a meeting held on Thursday 10 September.

The vacant building located at 141 High Street, Poole was previously occupied by the Post Office with the rear extension being used for storage. The planning proposals include carrying out various alterations together with change of use to the rear warehouse extension to create 2 new one-bed apartments and cycle storage. The warehouse extension will be severed from the main building at the front of the site which will be retained for retail use.

Cllr Peter Pawlowski, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Borough of Poole, said: “What better way to revitalise redundant storage areas in high streets is there than to return them to places where people live. The revolution in retailing sparked by the internet and just in time deliveries is a wonderful opportunity to bring life and vitality to our town centre locations.”
