Robin Hood and Maid Marion set sail with Santa for Christmas on the Quay

The stars of Lighthouse’s fun packed family pantomime will be joining Father Christmas for his special visit to Poole Quay on Sunday 7 December.

Robin Hood, aka CBBC’s Ed Petrie and his Maid Marion, Alicia Woodhouse will be joining Santa as part of Christmas on the Quay, a community event sponsored by Jenkins Marine taking place from 4-7pm.

Following the cancellation of the traditional Dolphin Shopping Centre Parade, Robin and Maid Marion will be accompanying Santa for a limited parade along Poole Quay.His extra special stop is the result of the Council, with support from local business and organisations, stepping in to support a scaled down parade from Corkers Restaurant and Café Bar to the Thistle Hotel. The parade will be joining in with Christmas on the Quay, a community event supported by Poole Tourism, the Jolly Sailor and Poole Harbour Commissioners .

Arriving at 4pm by RNLI Lifeboat dressed in festive lights, the festive party will board Poole Land Train for a short trip up and down Poole Quay accompanied by TS Drax Sea Cadets Marching Band , Zumba Reindeer and Bournemouth Carnival Band plus helper Elves. Santa and his special visitors will then do a slow walk about along the Quay to meet the crowds, giving out goodies donated thanks to the Elves at Poole Town Centre Sainsburys , Poole Quay Tesco Express, plus independent shops Truly Scrumptious and The Cabin located in the Lower High Street.

To entertain the crowds whilst Santa makes his way along the Quay, stilt walkers, illuminated performers and fire performers will add to the fun with live music from Karl Lattimer. After meeting families, Santa, Robin and Maid Marion will say their goodbyes and leave the Quay at 5.30pm by RNLI Lifeboat.

After Santa departs, Christmas on the Quay continues with carols around the Christmas tree by children from Old Town First School, free make and take, Splat the santa and a circus skills workshop, with festive fare available at the Jolly Sailor and Scaplens Court, which will be open with Tudor Chrismas activities and a choir from 3.30-7.30pm.

The Flotilla of Lights, organised by Poole Harbour Commissioners will see illuminated boats light up the water at 6pm whilst they compete for the Jenkins Marine Best Dressed Boat Trophy.

We also need to thank all those who have come forward with support for the additional Santa parade at such short notice, they will all certainly on Santa’s nice list this year."

Poole Quay road closure will be in place from 3.30-8.30pm. As part of Poole’s free Christmas parking, Town Centre car parks will be free of charge on 7 December from 10am-6pm.
