Get ‘Hands On’ at Poole Museum

Poole Museum is inviting local residents to get ‘hands on’ and learn about various museum collections at two special open door events.

'Hands On History’ sessions are aimed at those interested in getting closer to Poole Museum’s handling collection. Visitors can hear the stories and tales behind a selection of intriguing items from an experienced member of museum staff.

Sessions take place on Monday 1 September and Monday 6 October, 10.30-11.30am at Poole Museum. Sessions cost £2 per adult, payable on the door. Accompanying carers can attend for free.

Cllr Xena Dion, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for a Prosperous and Sustainable Poole, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole Museum has a fantastic collection of artefacts, from ancient archaeological finds and Roman pottery to 20th Century memorabilia. ‘Hands On History’ sessions provide a wonderful opportunity for local residents to get up close and find out about objects from an expert.”

Rebecca Rossiter, Learning and Access Manager, Poole Museum, said: "This is a great way to access real historical artefacts in a relaxed and friendly setting, meet new people and discover some hidden gems from the collection.”
