Poole Road Improvements - Give Your Views

Borough of Poole is consulting on a series of proposed improvements to Poole Road as a result of feedback from local residents.

Local people are invited to give their views on the proposed improvement schemes by either attending a public exhibition or giving their feedback online. Printed copies of the schemes and the feedback forms are also available at Branksome Children's Centre in Poole Road.

All of the improvement schemes have been drawn up following a recent engagement exercise aimed at gathering opinions from those who live and travel in the area. This latest consultation of the Three Towns Travel projects is the next stage in deciding how £460,000, allocated by the Department of Transport, could be spent.

People can complete an online feedback form about the proposals at boroughofpoole.com/threetownstravel which will be available from Wednesday 11 September until Friday 4 October 2013.

Council staff will be at St Aldhelm's Church, in St Aldhelm's Road, on Wednesday 25 September 2013 between 2pm and 8pm to answer any questions, listen to residents' views and offer help with completing the feedback forms.

Councillor Xena Dion, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for a Prosperous and Sustainable Poole, Borough of Poole, said: "We had nearly 150 responses from local people during the previous engagement exercise and have developed a series of improvements designed to address the issues raised, including reducing congestion, improving air quality and helping make public spaces more attractive. Many of the improvements will be carried out on Poole Road but some works will also take place on St Aldhelm's Road, Lindsay Road and Bourne Valley Road.

"We would urge everyone to carefully consider the proposals and complete a feedback form to ensure their views count."

Once the final schemes have been approved, works could start during 2014.

Funding for these improvement works has been allocated by Borough of Poole from the £12.1 million Three Towns Travel project for travel options in between Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch.
