Opportunities for local businesses to work on major Dorset project

Local companies have the opportunity of accessing millions of pounds worth of work by supporting existing contractors in the decommissioning of a nuclear site in Winfrith, Dorset.

The site was historically used for research and development within the nuclear industry. The site will now be decommissioned, demolished and the land returned to its natural state.

Research Sites Restoration Limited (RSRL) is responsible for the multi million decommissioning programme and is keen to meet local companies so that it has a range of suppliers working on the project. RSRL is hosting a free event for interested organisations to meet the project teams and key sub contractors and find out more about the opportunities available.

The business packages range from civil work, skilled labour and mechanical installations, to plant hire and equipment.

The event, supported by Borough of Poole and Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership, is free and will take place at the High Cliff Conference Centre, Dorset Green Technology Park, Winfrith Newburgh near Dorchester on Tuesday 22 October 2013, from 10am to 3pm.

Councillor Elaine Atkinson, Leader of the Council, Borough of Poole, said: "It is important we maximise investment in Poole. We are keen to make local companies aware of the type of work that will be available and to encourage them to get involved in this exciting project."

RSRL Commercial Director Helen Perthen, said: "We're constantly looking for ways to do things faster, better, cheaper. A vibrant and diverse supply chain including new innovative companies is the key to achieving this."
