Maritime Fun at Poole Museum

If you ever wondered what secrets lay at the bottom of the ocean, why not pop down to Poole Museum on 28 May 2013 and find out about maritime archaeology.

Members of the Poole Young Archaeologists Club will be demonstrating how wrecks and other maritime archaeology are raised from the deep using an interactive exhibit developed by the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology.

Funded by the Institute of Physics, this exciting hands-on opportunity lets you find out how maritime archaeologists save wrecks. Demonstrations will take place between 11am and 1pm and are suitable for children and young people between the ages of 8 and 16 years old.

You can also take part in the Museum’s high days and holidays celebration trail at any time over the half term week.

Councillor Judy Butt, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Public Engagement and Participation, Borough of Poole, said: "This is a really exciting opportunity for families to find out about our maritime heritage through hands-on activities. So if you are not sure what to do this half term why not come to Poole Museum and enjoy some free family fun."

Poole Museum is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and from noon to 4pm on Sunday.
