Holes Bay Traffic Signal Upgrade Completed Early

Works to upgrade the traffic signals at Holes Bay have been completed ahead of schedule.

The works, which were due to be completed on 20 December, involved the replacement of the old signals which had come to the end of their working life and were becoming unreliable.

The upgraded signals, which cost £90,000, will provide a number of additional benefits to road users including:

*  being more responsive to fluctuation in traffic flows throughout the day
*  improved synchronisation with the signals at Asda and Hunger Hill
*  having more efficient software running the signal junction thereby improving traffic flow outside of peak hours
*  enhanced benefits for cyclists and improved facilities for pedestrians to cross the main road

Councillor Xena Dion, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for a Prosperous and Sustainable Poole, Borough of Poole, said: "We are pleased that we have been able to complete these works earlier than expected which will allow us to reopen the right turn in and out of Sterte Road. The upgrade to the signals at this busy junction will provide many additional benefits to all road users.

"We would like to thank local residents and road users for their understanding while these improvement works were carried out."

Following the switch on of the new signals the timings will be monitored and adjusted over the next month as the traffic patterns settle following the reopening of the right turn at Sterte Road.
