Changes Made To Borough Of Poole's Cabinet

The Leader of the Council, Cllr Elaine Atkinson, announced changes to Cabinet and Committee membership at Full Council on 17 December.

Cllr Peter Adams will be replaced on Cabinet by Cllr Karen Rampton, who takes over responsibilty for Adult Social Care and Health and Housing.

Cllr Peter Adams said: "It has been a pleasure to serve as a Cabinet Member since 2007. However, as I will be serving my Mayoral year from May, the time was right to stand down. I am also looking forward to spending more time with my family, particularly my wife and young grandchildren. I am very proud of some of my achievements while serving on the Cabinet with responsibility for various portfolios, including the agreement to see much needed affordable housing properties built in Poole."

Cllr Karen Rampton said: "It is a great honour to be appointed to Borough of Poole's Cabinet, having served as a councillor for the Branksome East ward since 2008. I hope I will be able to bring my experience as Chairman of Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and more recently, Vice-Chairman of the Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and my time working with Poole Forum to help ensure that despite the difficult economic climate we continue to provide for our most vulnerable residents."

The following changes were also approved to Committee membership:

Cllr Ann Stribley replaces Cllr Karen Rampton on Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee
Cllr John Rampton replaces Cllr Karen Rampton on Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee
Cllr Peter Adams replaces Cllr Ian Potter on Children and Young People's Overview and Scrutiny Committee

Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Leader of the Council, said: "I would like to thank Cllr Adams for his hard work and dedication during his six years as a Cabinet Member. I'm sure he will enjoy spending some time with his family before his Mayoral year and I'm confident Cllr Mrs Rampton will bring a great deal of experience to the Cabinet team."

A new Chairman will be elected for Communities Overview and Scrutiny Committee when they next meet on 28 January 2014. A new Vice-Chairman will be elected for Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee at their next meeting on 4 February 2014.
