22 Aug 08New Look For Central Library
Poole's Central Library will be closed for a week from Monday August 25 to allow essential maintenance work and the relocation of some services.
The library will reopen on a single floor of the Dolphin Shopping Centre from Monday September 1.
The main floor of the library will reopen with a new layout, featuring the popular children's library. An IT suite will also be retained and there will be two computer terminals for 15 minute email use.
Community information will feature in the entrance lobby, while new and improved book displays are being introduced at the front of the library.
Cllr Peter Adams, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure, Borough of Poole, said: "Poole Library Service is much valued and we are committed to ensuring that our libraries continue to play a vital role in the lives of our local communities.
"The Central Library will offer a vibrant environment for all library users and provide better access for people with disabilities and parents with prams or buggies."
The new layout has been designed following consultation with library user groups.
During the period when the Central Library will be closed, Children and Young People's Integrated Services, based on the upper floor of the building, will operate as normal.
