Holes Bay Gets A Clean-Up

40 volunteers collected over 50 sacks of rubbish from a large section of the Holes Bay shoreline on Sunday 20 April 2008 as part of the Great Dorset Beach Clean.

The clean up was organised by the Borough of Poole's Leisure Services Ranger team in support of the Council's priority of Protecting Poole's Environment. Volunteers of all ages including members of the Lilliput Beavers and a local dive centre collected a large array of debris and items including a children's slide, many single shoes and a few fire extinguishers. The rubbish was then taken away by the Council's Environmental and Consumer Protection Services team with as much as possible being recycled.

Justine Hawkes, Senior Open Spaces Ranger at the Borough of Poole said: "The Holes Bay clear up proved a great success with the area now much cleaner for residents and visitors to enjoy and safer for the wildlife who live there. However such an event wouldn't have been possible without the support from our willing and enthusiastic volunteers who gave up their Sunday to help make a difference to our local area".
