26 Oct 07Caring For A Stroke Patient
A free study day is available to offer training, advice and support for carers in Poole who are looking after someone who has had a stroke.
The study day will take place on 22 November from 10.30am - 3.30pm. The day will give carers information about the condition and how to care for a patient. There will also be an opportunity to find out about services available to help both the cared for person and the carer. Trained nurses and social work staff will be on hand throughout the day to offer advice.
The course is a joint project between Borough of Poole's Adult Social Services and St John Ambulance
.
Val Mitchell, Carers Services Manager, Adult Social Services, Borough of Poole, said: "Strokes are a common condition and recovery can vary from person to person. People who have attended previous study days tell us that they find them very supportive and are pleased to meet other people who are in a similar position."
Early booking is advised for the course by contacting Val Mitchell on 01202 261174. Low cost help to look after the cared for person while the carer attends the event can be arranged when booking.
