SUMMER FESTIVAL OF FAMILY FUN

A carnival atmosphere will burst onto Poole Quay Thursday, 1 July with the first of the hugely popular Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival Evenings. For 1999, residents and visitors are promised even more family fun and entertainment every Thursday evening throughout July and August, with a firework finale at 9.50pm timed to coincide with the arrival of the Barfleur.

From magic shows to stilt walkers, this year's Summer Festival Evenings are bigger than ever, with events, stalls, children's fair rides and entertainers extending along Poole Quay from High Street to Fisherman's Dock.

A variety of live music to suit every taste will be available throughout the festival, beginning on 1 July with live Jazz at the Custom House and festival newcomers Gugge 2000, with their unique brass band meets continental street carnival style.

From fashion shows featuring styles from local shops to young performers, a mix of entertainment can be seen on the Pure Energy Variety Stage opposite Poole Pottery. In addition, 2 CR FM will be broadcasting the Hot 30 show, live from Poole Quay with presenter Martin Lee from 7-10pm.

Karen Hogarty, Marketing Manager said " The Summer Festival Evenings are the most popular event in the Liverpool Victoria Summer Festival with up to 25,000 people coming to the Quay every Thursday evening. In this year's line up there is something for everyone and different attractions will be available each week, so make sure you come down and join in the fun!"

To allow visitors the chance to walk around events freely and safely, the Quay will be closed to traffic from High Street to Fishermans's Dock between 4.00 pm-11.30 pm each Thursday evening throughout July and August.
