Free Training Courses For Carers In Poole

FREE training courses designed for carers are running in Poole at the end of February and throughout March on a range of topics.

The courses are only available for people caring for friends or relatives at home with physical or mental health problems and are deigned to provide a range of practical skills that can be used in everyday situations.

Courses include:

26 February - Carers rights & Social Services, carers assessment and local resources

5 March - Managing the stresses of caring

12 March - Legal aspects of caring and benefits advice

19 March - Practical care techniques/moving and handling

26 March - Questions about caring and services answered and informal social lunch with other carers

Participants are welcome to attend all five courses or, alternatively, pick and choose the most relevant ones.

Val Mitchell, Carers Services Manager, Borough of Poole, said: "As well as the practical skills that these courses offer, this is also an excellent opportunity for carers to get together and share experiences with each other; sometimes the most effective learning comes from talking to other people in similar situations and sharing advice."

"Adult Social Services are always on hand to offer carers in the borough help and advice. These training courses are an extension of this, giving people practical skills and confidence to fulfil their demanding family roles."

People interested should contact Alison Pagram on tel: 01202 261113, email: a.pagram@poole.gov.uk. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis. The closing date is the 20 February.
