Young Jester Juggles his way to the top

Fifteen year old Jamie Morris from Creekmoor will be the youngest jester to be accepted into the Guild of Jesters due to his outstanding performance skills and dedication to entertaining.

In recognition of his talent and commitment to jesting, the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Ron Parker will mark Jamie's acceptance into the Guild of Jesters on Thursday 8 November on Poole Quay by throwing a glass of water over him! A giggle of jesters dressed in traditional motley dress will also be running amock, on Poole Quay and will perform juggling and stilt walking to celebrate Jamie's achievement. The jesters will march along the waterfront amusing passers by before the ceremony at 3pm.

At 13 years old Jamie took an interest in jesting thanks to the summer festival nights on Poole Quay. By the age of 15 Jamie was performing solo shows and has travelled the Country to entertain the crowds at a variety of festival nights including Wales, Cornwall and Birmingham.

Anne Simpson, Special Events Officer at the Borough of Poole said: "It is excellent news that the summer festival nights on the Quay have inspired Jamie to join the jesters and develop his skills as an entertainer. Despite his young age he has worked extremely hard to develop his talent by joining the jesters at the festival nights on the Quay and at the On the Beach events this summer, he deserves to be rewarded for his hard work."

Jamie the Jester said: " I am really excited that I will be the youngest jester in the Guild of Jesters as I know that only a few are lucky enough to be able to join. I have always really enjoyed entertaining the crowds and making people laugh and I learnt a lot from working with Jonathon the Jester at the festival nights on Poole Quay. I hope that I will also be able to teach other young people how to juggle and perform and become fellow jesters!"
