TV's popular Ground Force Star, Tommy Walsh, Bob the Builder and Mayor Cllr Ron Parker will be celebrating the new image and improved attractions at Poole's newly refurbished Central Library on Tuesday 6 November.
Following the library's major £500,000 refurbishment guests will join Tommy, Bob and local people to enjoy poetry, performance and singing artists to celebrate the library's re-opening following a three month closure.With its new relaxed and informal style, the Central library boasts an impressive range of new features including:
New shelving and 10,000 new books
20 PC's offering free Internet access
An IT Training Suite where you can learn to word process and surf the web.
A children's library twice the size of the original one.
nathan's café bar
Carpets and new furniture throughout
A lift between library Levels 1 and 2
A new Home Entertainment section featuring the latest DVDs, CDs and videos
The Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker, said: "Our great expectations for this library have been surpassed, it is a outstanding achievement to see such improved services there in just three months and it is something that local people can really enjoy. The opening sounds like great fun too! Having a Central library with such a wide range of things on offer is a great asset to Poole. With its relaxed atmosphere and improved technology I am sure it will appeal to people of all ages and prove that a visit to the library can be informative and fun all at the same time."
Bob the Builder will be there to meet and greet his fans while Skorpio the Nemesis, delights visitors with poetry, music & movement. Ambient sounds from the Cleyendert String Quartet will fill nathan's cafe from 10am - 12noon when the Mayor of Poole, Councillor Ron Parker, will officially open the library with Tommy Walsh. Along with Tommy, Two posh ladies will mingle and mix with their interactive humour and remarks! and the Thinking Man living statue, Trading Faces Masks and Two Deep-Sea Divers performance artists will intrigue visitors to the new look library.

Poole central library was built in the late 1960's and this is the first refurbishment that has taken place.

Voices of Ad Astra School sing at 10.00am
Cleyendert String Quartet playing in nathan's café from 10am - 12noon
