1 Dec 05Poole's Social Services Are Two Star
It was announced today that the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) in its national evaluation of all Social Services Departments has awarded the Borough of Poole's Social Services Two Stars for its performance.
Adult Social Services continues to be judged as "serving most people well" with promising prospects for improvement. In addition, Children's Social Services has improved with its judgment moving from "serving some" to "serving most people well", also with promising prospects for improvement.
Cllr Tony Woodcock, Portfolio Holder for Children's Services, Borough of Poole, said: "I am particularly pleased to see the improved judgement in Children's Services where new services have been developed to provide support to families and young people at the earliest possible stage, should any difficulties begin to appear. We are also doing our utmost to ensure that the Council gives the very best possible start in life to those children who are in foster care or adoptive families."
Cllr Elaine Atkinson, Portfolio Holder for Community Support, which includes Adult Social Services, Borough of Poole, said: "The judgements announced by CSCI reflect the Council's long-standing commitment to delivering quality services, which offer real choice and independence to many of the people who are most in need in our community. On behalf of the Council, I would like to thank Borough of Poole employees, carers and our partners in the statutory, private and voluntary sector, whose hard work and dedication make possible the provision of good quality and improving services."
