25 Jul 01Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Goes Out and About in Poole
The streets, beaches and shipping lanes of Poole will come alive with the sound of classical music in August, when a brass ensemble from the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra steps out of its Poole Art Centre home for a day long tour of the town.
The tour will take place on Wednesday 1 August between 10:30am and 3:30pm and visit a variety of locations ranging from the entrance to Sainsbury's supermarket at Pitwines to the Sandbanks-Shell Bay car ferry! All performances will last approximately half an hour.
Cllr Graham Wilson, Executive Spokesperson for Community Information, said: "Both this tour and the forthcoming new arts market, are part of an initiative to make art in all its forms, more accessible to the public. This is a fun way for Poole residents and visitors to hear world class musicians play in a variety of interesting settings."
Steve Harris, Arts in the Community Officer, said: "We're hoping this tour will appeal to everyone - not just music buffs. The orchestra will mainly play light classical jazz - nothing too heavy and depending on how many people come along, they may even take some requests!"
The tour has been organised by Poole Arts Development Unit with help from Poole Town Centre Management.
