Bust the Bugs on Halloween

The 31 October is National Bust The Bugs Day and all families are being encouraged to join in and check their family members' hair to try and eradicate the problem.

Head lice and their little white eggs called 'nits' are a real problem nationally so it's well worth spending a few minutes checking your children are all clear.

To help you start, Poole Children's Information Service, based in Poole Library are offering free Bust The Bugs Packs and Nit Combs to Poole parents and carers. To claim your free pack call the Helpline on 01202 261999 or log on to the website at www.boroughofpoole.com/surestart and request a pack.

Vicky Wales, Acting Head of Pupil and Parent Support, Borough of Poole, said: "Taking part on 'Bug Busting Day' can help to prevent lice circulating. If all cases are identified and treated successfully at the same time there will be fewer opportunities for lice to spread amongst children and their families."

Poole Children's Information Service also provide up to date local information on topics such as choosing childcare, children's activities, paying for childcare and starting a career in childcare and early years work.
