Brand new learning opportunities and wild adventures will be on offer in Poole as this years 'Wildlife Funday' kicks off at Upton Country Park on Wednesday 7 August from 10.30am - 4pm.
The day will feature local environmental organisations running fun wildlife activities for children of all ages and adults too! Activities include bird watching with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, learning about bats with Dorset Wildlife Trust, making drinks coasters with the Poole Countryside team and much more.
Chris Valdus, Countryside Warden, said: "This is set to be a great day out for all the family. Activities cost just 50p per child which includes a prize when you finish and entry into a mystery prize draw. There will be lots to see and do all day so come along any time from 10.30am and join in the fun!
Also on show will be the exciting new range of learning opportunities available for adults, in Poole. Cultural Services and Adult Learning (previously Adult Education) have joined forces to form a new Service Unit - Culture & Community Learning. The Service Unit will be launched at the Funday and they will be showcasing the wide range of courses on offer.
Claire Chidley, Head of Culture & Community Learning, said: "I look forward to the many new and exciting opportunities that will be happening with the merging of Adult Learning and Cultural Services. We will now be able to work more effectively together to provide the best learning opportunities and cultural development for the people of Poole. There is so much on offer across the Borough and we hope to encourage everyone to have a look at the many courses, classes, events and activities on offer, there really is something for everyone."
Cllr Graham Wilson, Executive Portfolio Holder for Community Development, said: "The recent 'Knowmore' festival was a huge success and lots of people were able to see just how many learning opportunities there are in Poole. The Funday looks set to be another success with a massive range of activities and information available. We can be proud of the wonderful facilities and opportunities that are on offer to people in Poole."
Upton Country Park is situated just off the A3049 (Upton Bypass) about 4 miles west of central Poole - look out for the brown tourist signs.
